Cloud-based Backup Solutions

I had the opportunity at this year’s Diocesan Information Services Conference, DISC 2013, to do a presentation on cloud-based backup solutions.  These solutions still have one core challenge which is bandwidth, but for churches with limited to no IT support personnel they’re potentially simple and affordable solution to backing up and safeguarding your data.

Here’s my presentation from DISC 2013.

The four vendors I highlight in here are:

  • iBackup
  • MozyPro
  • CrashPlan
  • BackBlaze

For a primer on backup solutions for your church, please check out this earlier blog post.  I was also surprised to have the DISC audience that I was speaking to rather unfamiliar with Dropbox.  That quasi-backup solution deserves a closer look by everyone.  If you’re not familiar with Dropbox check out this earlier post.

Make sure to mention Backup That! Backupthat.com offers unlimited cloud storage for free. It has been used in my son’s Catholic School this year and he hasn’t lost an assignment yet because of it! Made me a believer.
