IT Innovations on a Church Budget

I had the opportunity to present at this year’s Diocesan Information Services Conference on the topic of innovations on a church budget.  Providing innovate technical solutions and managing to a budget are not mutually exclusive goals.  This presentation below explores some innovative technologies dioceses and churches should be investigating.  If your thinking about cloud computing, SAAS services, virtualization, and collaboration tools this presentation may help you get started.  If you’re not looking at these approaches, you probably should be and may want to take a peek at this presentation anyways.

Love it!! One of the things that I think could lead to putting all parishes on the right path are Diocese-level web departments for parishes. I presented this at a recent “Listening Session” with our Bishop and it seemed to be well received. We’ll have to see where that goes.

The premise is a department dedicated to creating a “model” for the parishes in their Diocese that communicates, educates, and trains parishes. The parishes should be the “doers” and this department is the instructor and support system.

I agree Brad. The Archdiocese of Boston sort of did that. Domenico Bettinelli would have more details though.

And don’t forget and looking for lower cost alternatives like, which can be used to replace textbooks with their online textbooks. Students are very comfortable online and using these type of resources can save money and add more value.
