I just got back from the 2012 Interactive Connections conference. It was a great couple of days of information sharing, discussions, along with a few good debates. It is great to see the church awaken (albeit slowly) to the power of Internet and technology. I loved in particular Father Rice’s (@lrice) keynote address. It was a great wakeup call. I really appreciated this challenge that I’ll try to quote,
“Com’on, the Church invented the Social Network 2000 years ago. We can do better!”
I had the opportunity of presenting a couple of sessions that the conference, one of them being on Mobile Technologies. I didn’t expect the level of attendence that I received for that presentation. Thank you! It was a good discussion and great to see the interest in mobile already there. Mobile is clearly emerging and in a big way. By 2013, there will be more mobile devices connecting to the Internet than there will be desktops/laptops.
My presentation is below, but a couple of questions for the group:
1. Is your website mobile compatible? Have you ever tested it on the iPhone? Android?
2. Has your church tried using QR codes to integrate your print communication with the online world?
3. Any Apps or location-based services like FourSquare that your leveraging in your ministry?
My presentation on Mobile Technologies is below, but if you have a story to share, we’d love to hear from you!
