Father George William Rutler – The Artist

I’ve seen Father Rutler many times on EWTN and have always enjoyed his remarkable insights into Church history. I was surprised to find out that one of his hobbies is painting. Based on the examples of his artwork I see here, he’s quite good at it.

One of my favorites is “Pissarro’s Favorite River, Oise, France”…

Painting by Fr. Rutler

What I enjoy so much about this painting, is the light-source behinds the clouds. I get a sense of the ‘presence of God’ from it. There are no distinct outlines of the Sun, but it permeates the entire sky.
