Upcoming Catholic Media Conventions

A couple of upcoming conventions worth noting — CatholiCon and CNMC.

CatholiCon 2011

CatholiCon will be taking place August 26-28, 2011 in Houston, Texas. The illustrious Father Z. is a scheduled speaker! Clare-Camp includes a religious and tech track — although it’d be nice to bi-locate and attend both.

Here’s a bit more about CatholiCon…

Since the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago, she has always sought to use all forms of human communication to advance Our Lord’s command to make disciples of all nations. CatholiCon brings all of the traditional forms in which The Church commuicates as well as the new forms of media that bring the Gospel to the emerging Digital Continent.

In addition to Sacred Chant, Art, and the Liturgy, we’ll also explore the New Evangelization as it is taking place in podcasting, vidcasting, blogging, and social networking.

It’ll be expo style, which means that attendees will be able to browse the floor, looking at the latest in new media gadgetry, hang out in a coffeebar environment, or attend the keynotes and workshops.

Looks like a great event!

Catholic New Media Celebration 2010

Just around the corner we have the CNMC on August 7, 2010, taking place in Boston, Massachusetts. They’ve got an outstanding collection of New Media folks who’ll be presenting.

The Catholic New Media Celebration (CNMC) is an international conference which focuses on  evangelization of the Roman Catholic faith using new media.  It is a day to Learn, Share, and Explore how New Media can help the Catholic Church in the New Evangelization called for by Pope John Paul II.

The conference is sponsored by the Star Quest Production Network, a non-profit corporation with the goal of reaching out to the secular world in faith.

The goals of the conference are;

  • To support and enhance evangelization through the use of New Media
  • To provide information and support for New Media Producers
  • To foster community among producers and consumers of Catholic New Media

Sounds like registration has ended and the event is full, although they do have a waiting list.

Are you attending either one of these?
